Easily 30, probably 40 in pines and in flight 1km NE of Lower Star Post on Windsor Ride. Smaller groups SW of LSP.

A maximum count: six, three male and three female, headed south in to Surrey at this time, being joined by another female after they had alighted on conifers. One moved west at 15:59 and 12 dropped, eventually, in to the trees by the bridge at 16:49; lingering before moving off in to Surrey.

After an hour, a lone and hefty-looking crossbill sp flew across the open area in the middle heading towards Broadmoor but could not be relocated. Call a mellow "bloop". If you have a big lens a or a remembird, worth a look.
