Young starling nestling (a week away from fledging) fell out of next door's nest under their tiles. Picked out of the gutter alive (briefly) and carried off by the local magpies.

m. May is the busiest month for GSWs to come down into our garden and start snaffling hornet moth larvae from the exposed roots of our biggest garden poplar. Tonight was a good start.
