2021 descriptions
3 February 2022 | Marek Walford
The 2021 work in progress page has been updated. Please submit any outstanding descriptions/photos as soon as possible. For records marked NDR (no description received) we don't have any documentation.
Descriptions often concentrate on the circumstances around the finding of a bird. Although this is interesting and gives context, a description should primarily say why the bird is the species being claimed, and why it is not another similar species. Photos/videoes/sound recordings are very helpful for backing up a record. We will use such evidence off the Internet but a description from the finder is always preferable as it enables us to confirm details like dates/observers etc. An unusual records form can be downloaded from the BOC website.
Although we haven't published reports as quickly as we would like (2017 is imminent), we have made considerable progress with the systematic lists. 2018 and 2019 have been completed and edited. 2020 is in progress and should be completed in March. Work on 2021 will start soon after so please submit your 2021 descriptions and records as soon as possible.
