a marked passage of birds heading west/south-west this morning through the Churn/Compton area, in flocks of between 4 and about 100. For a time a flock gathered on the triangular field at Churn east of the old railway line (c500) before dispersing.

Up to 300 would regularly be seen on two local gasometers which were removed many years ago, after which just 20 or so would be regular. This summer, numbers have increased to over 100 again; a healthy sign.
