Approx. no. as below, usual site north of bridge. Sub-song heard. Good views in sunshine but spoilt by bird photographers getting too close to them, causing them to disperse. Please have more respect for the birds and true birdwatchers who want to see them acting naturally.

I appreciate the reference I've given is for Surrey, but they are back and forth between the 2 counties. Good views on the Surrey side of the bridge and up near the pylons at su881625 where there is a small puddle that seemed to be unfrozen - they were watering there at 12:35. Then over to Berks again and back to a pine at su879627 for good views to us all from 13:20. Photo added. SU881625.

Initially flew into one of the pines in the 'usual' area (SU877629), then relocated in pines under the pylons where they stayed for around an hour. We watched them from SU879629, along the track east of the 'usual' place, at cross roads east of the the bridge. SU879629.

30/11/17PARROT CROSSBILLWishmoor Bottom, Swinley Forest20M Jones
mix. Arrived on site at dawn. Single PC overhead twice but main flock only arrived at 08:50. They went straight to the 'watering tree' and drank fleetingly from the small pool (which we'd opened up from the ice previously). Then into the usual tree. Left at 09:45. Circled above the mounting banks of cameras and telescopes- 20 birds (could not be 100% they were all PC but all in the tree had been and frankly all looked the same). Not seen in that area for quite some time then - they'd flown off into the Surrey area, but we won't mention that county on here :-) . I left at 11:25. 8 Parrot Crossbills overhead down the track near the black and white barrier well away from the previous area. Then flew deeper into the forest. Can't help wondering they might find a quieter place but then again I think we all found them very obliging and not concerned by people as they fed. Hoping they show for the large number of folk there now.
30/11/17PARROT CROSSBILLWishmoor Bottom, Swinley Forest16M G McCarthy

16-20 birds. When flew off flock comprised 20 crossbills. Not all seen when feeding in pines but all that were visible were Parrots.

Showing well in (Scots?) Pines out on open heath. Mildly flighty, moved to next tree 3 or 4 times. Adult males and females and first-winter males, fantastic views.
27/11/17PARROT CROSSBILLWishmoor Bottom, Swinley Forest16L G Evans
Keeping to one particular area and feeding in isolated Pines and Oaks. Vocal at times, especially when in flight and affording exceptional views. All flew off into Surrey just after 2pm and were lost to view as dots, presumably to roost. DIRECTIONS: park at the end of King's Ride in Camberley and then take the main King's Ride just beyond the new site map for just under half a mile to the crossroads adjacent to the black-and-white barrier on the left (and ignoring the track that runs off left just before it gets really muddy). Turn right at the crossroads and then left in 30 yards and then continue for a further 100 yards to the favoured feeding area.

After seeing Berksbirds post just now I have just looked at images of a female and male I photographed this morning and all features of bill and head are good for Parrot. A few calls I heard briefly were not right for common in retrospect.
