18/12/17 | Black Redstart | Grove Lake, Moor Green Lakes | 1 | G Duffus |
f/juv. Reporting as probable but 99.9% certain of id. Got the very dark bird with silvery head and russet tail but no obvious white/silvery wing bar. Jizz was good with tail flick and knee jerk. Only doubt based on habitat but as they say, anytime, anywhere any place. Seen in bushes and brambles around the greensward on the east end of the spit east of where the mandarins are often found on the north side of Grove Lake, and North west of cormorant island. Elusive but popped into view several times. Viewed from river path over lake through gap just east of viewing screen. Have seen these on a couple of winter occasions before on New Workings where habitat is more appropriate... Seen with Tony Reid. Sorry no images... | ||||
