fem. Took me 10 mins to find this but eventually got v gd views of it standing on ice. Flapped its wings to reveal long, bright white wing bars, also white belly, white undertail coverst, long dark grey bill with black nail and thin bluish subterminal band, dark eye, steep forehead with peak above eye, paler facial marks in front and behind eye, but lower. Very small size. Hybrid always a worry but this looks good. I notice a later report was negative but I would be surprised if it had gone. (Apparently it flew off S).

Probable
Probable female type on the Hythe Lagoon. Showing well but distant. I have not fully eliminated the possibilty it is a Ferruginous type hybrid but it looks good to me.
