Terrific racket with seemingly every jackdaw within earshot converging on our garden woodpecker tree (an 80ft ash), joined by rooks and magpies, all calling in alarm because a jackdaw was pinned to the ground by a sparrowhawk and was screaming. The hawk released the jackdaw and they flew off in opposite directions as I approached.

Another great survivor - despite having one leg, it's managed to survive locally for over two years and has even learnt to cling to the garden feeder to tuck into the seed.

Ryeish Green to be precise, jackdaw with mouthful of twigs landed on house's chimney and poked it head down. Someone's going to get a blocked chimney soon... SU724675.
