| 17:02 | Good news tonight. Both m & f in same roost for first time this year. One (m we think) left the roost at 17:10 and the other (f) remained in the roost as we went home. I hope they manage to find some voles in this strong wind again tonight. This will be my last report (before autumn) of these 2 owls as they seem to have paired up and I hope will start to enter their breeding season proper now. SU830700. | |||

What we think is the female quartered over field for an hour, finally catching a vole at 0755 and returning to her roost with it in good light. The paler male (we think) interacted with her (we think) only for about 5 minutes in total and disappeared SW at around 0720. | |||

| 07:02 | Superb morning today, SW of village... basically due to the wonderful absence of any noisy, shouting, whistling (off lead) dog walkers. "Our" original barn owl joined by a much paler owl. I am now of the cautious opinion that "our" original owl is a female and today's addition is a male. Not anywhere near sure though. "Our" original owl returned to its roost at 07:42. Harried as it was, by a kestrel and buzzard. | |||

| 16:12 | Our favourite local owl, clearly hungry after all this rain in recent nights, left its roost at 16:12 and gave me and my eldest boy a treat as it quartered over a nearby field (southwest of the village proper) for a good 40 minutes before the light got too prohibitive for us to get further good views.
