possibly 6 pairs across both Upper and Lower Commons. One male this evening, seen to fly in and land in patch of gorse and scrub. Closer inspection revealed nest site & 2 well marked eggs. The female was not seen to leave as she had probably already left to feed. This lapse in changeover is well known and for a species that relies on camouflage, is why the ground colour of the eggs is generally white - so that the incoming bird can locate them easily.
