Wing tagged Red Kites

Several people, particularly Fraser Cottington, have been paying close attention to Red Kites seen over Dinton Pastures. Recently a wing-tagged bird was seen with an orang tag on the left wing and a blue tag on the right wing. It was assumed it was bird from the release programme in the Chilterns but it turned out be a bird from Yorkshire!
Fraser has asked me to publish the following information to encourage people to check Red Kites more closely:
The tag on the left wing indicates the origin as follows:
- Yellow - Chilterns
- White - Midlands
- Orange - Yorkshire
The tag on the right wing indicates the year of release/fledging as follows:
- Green - 1998
- Black - 1999
- Pink - 2000
- Blue - 2001
- White - 2002
